Muskoka Tourism’s AGM March 20

MUSKOKA LAKES - Muskoka Tourism Marketing Agency’s annual general meeting will be held on March 20 at the Rosseau, a JW Marriott Resort and Spa in Minett from 2 to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
This will be an opportunity to network with colleagues, conduct the usual business of an annual general meeting, and learn about activities that have a direct bearing on the success of business and tourism in Muskoka.
Muskoka businesses and the tourism industry are both dependent on a healthy environment. Patricia Arney, recently elected chairperson of the Muskoka Watershed Council, will provide an update on the council’s contribution to Muskoka’s environmental well-being.
Explorers’ Edge (RTO 12) will present its proposed plans for the 2012/2013 fiscal year. Regional tourism organizations (RTOs) are a recent creation across Ontario.
Muskoka Tourism is a not-for-profit membership association, first established in 1935 as the Muskoka Tourist Association (MTA) to promote Muskoka as a vacation destination. In 1985, MTA evolved to become Muskoka Tourism Marketing Agency (MTMA).
Muskoka Tourism’s mandate is to provide leadership for tourism marketing in Muskoka, representing the interests of its members and the visitor market.
Please RSVP to Pat at 1-800-267-9700 or info@muskokatourism.ca by March 16 if you plan to attend or have any questions.

Tour the world without leaving town

Seeing the world is as easy as visiting the local public library. “It’s armchair travelling,” said acting chief librarian Caralene Clement. The Gravenhurst Public Library finished its spring travel series with a full house on April 30 viewing a presentation on Costa Rica. Because the series was so well attended, the library is planning a second set this fall.
