Professional mushers come from around the globe

Even the kids are getting into the action as the Kearney Beaver and Wolf Pack head up fun activities for families
KEARNEY - Each year the streets of Kearney fill with dogs, mushers and spectators for a weekend of family fun of a different breed.
The 18th Annual Kearney Dog Sled Races brings the best of the best of dogs and mushers to participate in the 120-, 40-, six- or four-mile races on Feb. 11 and 12.
This year the competition promises to be fierce with a bigger than ever prize purse attracting professional mushers from around the globe.
There is also ski-joring, a race where dogs pull a skier along the race trail.
Spectators will also enjoy the Kid and Mutt Race as brave and adventurous children show off their mushing skills as they lead on their furry friends.
Although the main focus of the day is the dogs, there is no doubt that the weekend in the town of Kearney offers something for everyone.
There is a woodcarving display, face painting, the Fat Tire Mountain Bike Snow Race, a silent auction, a display by the Burk’s Falls Figure Skating Club, and so much more.
Even the kids are getting into the action as the Kearney Beaver and Wolf Pack head up fun activities for families.
For more information on this event visit www.kearneydogsled.com or head to Kearney and check out the fun.
