The Spitfire Grill gets opening night standing ovation

HUNTSVILLE - The Huntsville Community Theatre Company opened its 2012/2013 season with The Spitfire Grill musical on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 18.
The house was full as 84 audience members enjoyed an entertaining evening at the theatre, then celebrated with the cast and crew with champagne, wine and cheese. With a standing ovation and accolades for the tremendous performance, the audience was truly impressed.
From the transformation of a community hall into a studio theatre, to performances from a stellar cast, the evening certainly cemented the theatre company’s standing as an excellent entertainment vehicle between October and May.
Typical of a theatre company, as one play opens, another is already in rehearsals. Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs opens Dec. 1 and another British comedy is about to be cast with auditions on Nov. 4 at Trinity United Church in Huntsville at 2 p.m.
There are still two performances remaining for The Spitfire Grill, Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27. A few $15 advance tickets are still available at Treasures and Trophies.
Go out to play this weekend.

Club focusing on controversial books

Tour the world without leaving town

Seeing the world is as easy as visiting the local public library. “It’s armchair travelling,” said acting chief librarian Caralene Clement. The Gravenhurst Public Library finished its spring travel series with a full house on April 30 viewing a presentation on Costa Rica. Because the series was so well attended, the library is planning a second set this fall.
