MAC Summer Show in Annie Williams Park this weekend

More than 20,000 people come to enjoy the art, meet the artists, to stroll through the beautiful grounds of the park and to make special purchases
BRACEBRIDGE - The booths are up and the artists and artisans are ready to welcome the crowds to Muskoka Arts & Crafts’ Summer Show. The much anticipated summer tradition is celebrating its 50th year of bringing outstanding art and craft to Muskoka July 20 through 22 at Annie Williams Memorial Park in Bracebridge.
Considered as one of Ontario’s oldest and largest rural outdoor craft shows, the Summer Show brings 200 artists to Muskoka — a mix of new and returning exhibitors from as far away as Mission, B.C.
More than 20,000 people come to enjoy the art, meet the artists, to stroll through the beautiful grounds of the park and to make special purchases.
The Summer Show is open rain or shine.
All the work presented at the Summer Show is handmade by the artists in their studios and is one-of-a-kind work of the highest quality. The artists exhibit in all art and craft media including baskets, clothing, fibre, fine woodworking, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, pottery, sculpture, toys, weaving and more.
The Gourmet Food Marketplace returns for its second year. This section features the delectable and mouth-watering products of nine selected makers of fine foods.
The annual Summer Show is Muskoka Arts & Crafts’ most important fundraiser. Admission to the show is just by donation and all the gate proceeds benefit this non-profit visual arts organization by providing support for its art gallery, as well as many artistic events that take place throughout the year.
In the tradition of the last 50 years, the 2012 Summer Show promises to live up to its well-earned reputation. Come and meet 200 talented artists and craftspeople, hear their stories, be inspired, see new work and purchase handmade works of art.
The 50th Annual Summer Show takes place at Annie Williams Memorial Park, located at 50 Santa’s Village Road in Bracebridge on Friday, July 20 (10 a.m.-7 p.m.) and on Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.). Admission is by donation.
There is plenty of free parking in the park and along selected side streets.

Seeing the world is as easy as visiting the local public library. “It’s armchair travelling,” said acting chief librarian Caralene Clement. The Gravenhurst Public Library finished its spring travel series with a full house on April 30 viewing a presentation on Costa Rica.
