Titans ground Eagles

Game 1 of the GMHL quarter finals series between Temiscaming and Powassan didn't start as scheduled as both teams had to sit out a 90 minute delay due to the game officials, who were involved in single car mishap.

No injuries to report to the officials but the game was delayed until the officials made their way to the rink.

The game was a penalty filled affair, as was obvious of the Eagles game plan right from the start of the game, as four fights erupted in the first period. For no reason a near line brawl broke out following Powassan's only goal as four of the five players on the Eagles took it upon themselves to start the fisticuffs. The two teams combined for a total of 131 minutes in penalties with the Titans taking 77 minutes to Powassan's 54 min.

The Titans came out of this with a 7-1 victory and a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

Richard Abbott led the way with three goals while Marc-Alain Begin chipped in with a pair. Chris Levesque had four assists. Aaron Boyce made 32 saves for the win while Martin Kysa took the loss.

The Powassan lone goal was by Dan Vlak.

The three stars were Richard Abbott, Marc-Alain Begin and Chris Levesque. Game 2 is in Powassan on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Game 3 is back in Temiscaming on Saturday night at 8 p.m.
