Markham runner qualifies for two events

Phylicia George will run in 100m, 100m hurdles

MARKHAM -- She wasn't mentioned among the favourites, but that didn't deter Phylicia George.

George, 24, finished second in the women's 100m hurdles at the Canadian track-and-field trials in Calgary.

It was the second event George qualified in, having previously made the Canadian team in the 100m.

Prior to the trials, she said, "This is the meet that every Canadian track-and-field athlete has been training for. It's finally time for all the hard work to pay off in an attempt to punch a ticket to London."
