HUNTSVILLE - Members of the Rocky Island Swim and Tri Club travelled to Orangeville on Saturday to celebrate Halloween with a few hundred other Ontario swimmers in the first swim meet of the 2012-2013 season.

Although only back in the water for four weeks, the athletes managed many personal best performances as well as sixty, top-10 place finishes (including 16 first-place finishes).
Ally Goldring and Kyoka Stone shared the performance award of the meet.
They came home with four, first-place finishes in all four of their individual events.
The club’s Fin Award, for the greatest accumulated time reduction in all swims, went to Fiona Shearing, who dropped 31. 9 seconds off her swim performance times.
Runners-up for the award were Couper Ebbs-Picken (25.5 seconds) and Paige Smith (13.3 seconds).
Other meet highlights included: Olivia Baguley – D time 50 metre freestyle; third-place finish 50 metre butterfly; Celeste Dupuis – ninth place finish in 50 metre freestyle; Lauren Dupuis – two first-place finishes (50 metre back and 50 metre breaststroke) at first -ever swim meet; Ebbs-Picken – 12, second improvement in 100 metre individual medley, first-place finish in 50 metre breaststroke; Caitlyn Gill – fifth place finish in 50 metre butterfly; ninth place in 100 metre individual medley; Ally Goldring – Ontario B standards in both 50 metre freestyle and 100 metre individual medley, C time 100 metre freestyle; Samantha Goldring – B standards in 50 metre freestyle and 100 metre breaststroke, two first and one second-place finish; Alex Griffiths – three fifth-place finishes, Ontario championship C standards in 50 metre and 100 metre freestyle; Nathan Griffiths (13) – one first-place and three second-place finishes, Ontario C standards in both 50 metre and 100 metre freestyle; Andrew Markham – 4.8 seconds off his 100 metre freestyle, E time in 100 metre breaststroke; Brooke Morton – 5.7-second improvement in 100 metre freestyle, E time in 50 metre freestyle; Kelsi Murdey – three-second drop in 100 metre individual medley, fifth-place finish 100 metre backstroke; Sabrina Schaly – two seconds off 100 metre individual medley finishing second, third-place finishes in 100 metre freestyle and 100 metre breaststroke; Fiona Shearing – 17.6 reduced off her 100 metre freestyle, 10.4-second drop in 50 metre breaststroke; Paige Smith – 7.3-second improvement in 100 metre freestyle, E time in 50 metre freestyle; Taylor Smith – one- second drop in 100 metre freestyle as well as 100 metre individual medley with great technical improvements; Nathan Stafford –7.8-second drop in 100 metre individual medley taking second; first-place finishes 50 metre and 100 metre freestyle in C and D time; Stone – C times in both 50 metre freestyle and 100 metre breaststroke and four first-place finishes.
