Ball champs crowned

THE CHAMPS:. THE CHAMPS: The Moose Delaney’s team poses after claiming the 2012 Huntsville Men’s Fastball League championship.
HUNTSVILLE - The 2012 Huntsville Men’s Fastball League championship went to Moose Delaney’s Bar and Grill, courtesy of an early round upset.
Acme Planing Mills, which ended up in first place in the regular season with an 8-1-6 record, were upset by the last-place Rolston Home Building Centre (1-13-1) in one semifinal on Sept. 4 by a score of 6-2.
The win put the Rolston team into the A division finals the next night, against second-place Moose Delaney’s, (8-4-3) who beat out third-place Parry Island  (7-6-2) in the other semifinal to move into the championship final.
Paul Robertson was the driving force for Moose Delaney’s 7-5 come-from-behind win over Parry Island, as he pitched his best game of the year, according to league president Stan Rimmington. Robertson also led with his bat, with a triple early in the contest.
Acme put its game together to down Parry Island 5-1 to capture the B division title.
The Cinderella playoff run for Rolston lasted the one game, as Moose Delaney’s cruised to the overall championship with a 10-3 victory.
Robertson again led his team, this time with the bat, as he went three-for-four, earning him the playoff most valuable player award in the process.
