HUNTSVILLE - The 18th annual Muskoka Kids Triathlon will be held this year in Port Sydney on Saturday July 21.
The triathlon swim-bike-run fun challenge is open to kids young and not so young (ages six to 96), with distances ranging from 50-metre swim/3.1-kilometre bike/700-metre run for the eight and under age group up to a 400-metre swim/12.4 km bike/3.2 km run for the 15 and over age groups.
The Kids Tri is a long-standing, fun triathlon and Huntsville residents Jane Wolfe and Sharon Wallace are again co-organizing the event.
This year the Muskoka Kids Tri is part of a weekend long triathlon celebration. The celebration starts with the Muskoka Kids Tri on Saturday morning, a triathlon festival in River Mill Park Saturday afternoon and the Ironman Muskoka 5150 and Subaru Muskoka Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, July 22.
Registration for the Muskoka Kids Tri is to be made online at muskokakidstri.com. The last day to register is Saturday, July 14. Registration is limited to 270 entries.
The cost to register this year is $30 for youth and $35 for open (19 and over). There is a $5 late fee after July 8th. The price includes race entry, bike check, bathing cap, post-race barbecue, and race kit including a free T-shirt.
As before, for the duration of the triathlon, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., racecourse roads will be closed to traffic to ensure the safety of all participants, spectators and volunteers.
