Ice carnival marks the beginning of spring

BRACEBRIDGE - The Bracebridge Skating Club is hosting its 64th annual Ice Carnival this weekend.
The carnival will take place on Sunday, April 1 at Bracebridge Memorial Arena. This year’s carnival has a springtime theme and will feature performances from skaters of all skill levels.
“Skaters from the very youngest, who have just learned how to skate, right up to the club’s most experienced … are all planning to keep you entertained as they showcase the skills they’ve learned this year,” said skating club president Lizann Brunskill.
“We’ll be featuring solos from several skaters, presenting our CanSkater of the Year and CanSkate spirit awards, and you won’t want to miss the extra special surprise as some skaters’ dads and friends lace up their skates to show they can skate too... or can they?”
The event’s doors open at 12:45 p.m., and admission is $5 per person. Children ages three and under and skating club members can watch the show for free.
A spring plant sale will also take place during the event, featuring a variety of potted tulips and hyacinths. The sale is a fundraiser for the skating club.
