Ski teams perform well at recent events

HUNTSVILLE - Muskoka Ski Club’s K1 Blurr team was in action again on Sunday, Feb. 12, hosting Georgian Peaks, Alpine Ski Club, Chicopee, Batawa and the Heights of Horseshoe at Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area.
Competing against the Batawa Tigers, Muskoka Ski Club won with a score of 306 to 216, achieved their second podium sweep of the season and winning both the fastest boy and fastest girl combined times.
On the podium for the girls were Addie Howell, gold; Kate Gogan, silver and Kathryn Lihou, bronze with times of 30.45, 33.64 and 34.92 respectively.
On the podium for the boys were Gage Magee, gold; Matthew Grant, silver; and Jacob Barnes, bronze with times of 32.29, 32.91 and 33.59 respectively.
The K1 Blurr team is sanctioned by Alpine Ontario and is comprised of 11 and 12 year old boys and girls.
Huntsville locals Addie Howell, Gage Magee, Sydney Stevens and Matthew Stevens were supported by cottagers Nick Valentine, Jacob Barnes, Finn Magee, twins Matthew and Nathalie Grant, Amanda Gryniewski, Jakob Heinz, Kathryn Lihou, Emilio Ortelli, Jack Long, Evan Stothers and Kate Gogan. This win was the  Blurr’s fourth win and final race of the regular season.
Also on Sunday Feb. 12, the Muskoka Ski Club K2 Heat owned the podium at Skyloft Ski Resort in Uxbridge. The  K2 racers took home all the available hardware. In the slalom race against Chedoke, the club won 306 vs 90.
The girls’ results are as follows: first place, Rachel May (23.84, 23.85, total 47.69); second place, Samantha Allison (23.84, 23.97, total 47.81); third place, Kelsi Murdy (25.11, 25.28, total 50.39); fourth place, Annabelle Ros (24.46, 26.49, total 50.95); fifth place, Lise Grant (30.29, 26.12, total 56.41)
The boys’ results are as follows: first place, Benjamin Barnes (21.25, 21.04, total 42.29); second place, Graydon Grant (21.48 21.51, total 42.99); third place, Chris Loma (22.96, 23.74, total 46.70); third place, Patrick Gogan (25.38, 24.63, total 50.01); sixth place, Ryan Lihou (26.40, 27.91, total 54.31). The fastest boy overall of the six clubs was Barnes.
