Fire officers serving up camp charity

GRAVENHURST - Members of the Ontario Association of Fire Training Officers and the local fire college will be reaching out to Gravenhurst residents this coming Monday.
On Oct. 1 the officers will be in full uniform serving up some fun, games and even a few frosties in an effort to raise funds for Camp Bucko.
Camp Bucko, located near Toronto, is a burn camp for youth ages seven to 17 where children recover from burn injuries. The camp teaches the children to cope with their injuries, share their stories and simple fun times with other youth in similar situations, all in a summer camp setting.
There will be games, face painting, firefighters in uniform helping serve food at Boston Pizza on Muskoka Wharf between 5 and 8 p.m. that day. Ten per cent of the evening’s proceeds will go toward supporting the campers. People can make reservations for that evening by calling 705-684-8024 or by email at bpgravenhurst@bellnet.ca.
For more information on Camp Bucko, check out www.campbucko.ca.
