Wednesday Night – Section ‘A’ – Georgian Bay Financial
This was our last scheduled game, bringing us to the end of Wednesday night curling.
Our winner of this second schedule is the Nanci Beers, Lorrie Kerr, Andrea Tranter and Vicki Heikoop as they went through the nine game round robin, with only one loss, to end up with 15 points.
In this last game, with Marian McIsaac, Nanci was 4-0 at midway, then Marian got a point, but Nanci took control again, for the big win.
Second place winner was shared by the Julie Truscott rink, Sandra Villeneuve rink, Debbie Iezzi rink and Laurie Robinson rink, as they all ended up with 12 points.
Julie was playing Laurie, with the score of 5-4 for Laurie at half time, then Laurie was one up going home, with the hammer to take the win for her 12 points.
Sandra was given a win by default, from the Heather fisher rink, to win her 12 points.
Debbie, Martha Gibson, Kathy Parton and Wendy Schroeder picked up their 12 points with a big win over the Joanne Morrish rink.
Section ‘B’ Logan’s of Parry Sound
Our winner in this section, going through an eight game round robin, with only one loss, is the Sue Shadd, Sue Lillie, Sue Ferguson and Aleson Patterson rink, as they took the win, but only by one point, to give them top points – 14 points. This last game was with the Bonnie Felker rink, in a tight game. In both the first and fourth ends the lead’s rock, that was Kathy Nash’s rock, was still sitting shot rock, after 15 rocks had been thrown. The scoreboard showed 3-2 for Sue after four, then tied 5-5 going home, with Sue having last rock for the win.
In second place, we have Kana Upton, Bev Webb, Robin Galibrath and Shari Phillis, with 12 points as they defeated the Sue Smith rink.
Now that our games are over for the season, we look at the year and standings.
That is the points each team ended up with, adding the points from our first schedule in October, plus our points in this second schedule to give us our overall winners.
The Sandra Villeneuve and Debbie Iezzi teams have a total of 28 points, but Sandra won both of her games over Debbie, so Sandra, Trudy Orr, Lisa Moore, and Lorraine Vankoughnett became our overall winners of the Georgian Bay Financial Award.
Year-end standings are: Sandra Villeneuve 28, Debbie Iezzi 28, Julie Truscott 24, Nanci Beers 24, Marian McIsaac 22, Sue Shadd 21, and Laurie Robinson 20.
It’s been a very busy, interesting, and successful year at the curling club with lots of events. Thanks to our jovial Al Bourgeois and our super ice technician Bob Holmes.
Have a great summer, and I hope to be back for the next season.
