Baseball team needs players

Huntsville Forester

PARRY SOUND – The Muskoka Hornets need 10 and 11-year-olds to field a team this summer.
The all-star travelling Mosquito hardball team with the York Simcoe Baseball Association currently has eight players signed up, but needs 12 to 14 to make a team, said coach Cameron Boyd.
“It is hardball opposed to softball,” said Boyd. “It’s like the Blue Jays. There’s a batter, a catcher, pitcher and the kids try to play the ‘men’s’ game.”
Players from across Parry Sound and Muskoka can join the Bracebridge-based team. Games are played throughout league’s coverage area on weekends.
Boyd said the mixed boys and girls team might try to practice during the week, but it isn’t currently scheduled.
“I want to make sure they like the game, especially since it’s the entry level,” he said.
The season starts May 25.
Registration is $200.
