OSHAWA -- Kristina Vaculik will finally get her shot at Olympic glory.
Having just missed out on a trip to Beijing in 2008, Vaculik played an integral role in earning the women's gymnastics team a berth this time around for the Games in London.
Vaculik, a 20-year-old Whitby resident and member of Gemini Gymnastics in Oshawa, helped Canada to a second place finish at the last-chance qualification meet in London. The top eight from the world championships in Tokyo earned their spots, while the final four, including Canada, did so at the London meet.
Vaculik, a three time all-around senior Canadian champion, was officially named to the team after topping the field at a two-day selection meet in Gatineau, Que.
