Walk the line to Music on the Barge

CASH TRIBUTE. Pam and Jim Yorfido will take the Music on the Barge stage Sunday night in a tribute to Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash and Tammy Wynette.

July 20, 2012

GRAVENHURST - The music of Johnny Cash and Tammy Wynette will be celebrated on Sunday, July 22 commencing at 7:30 p.m. at Music on the Barge in Gull Lake Rotary Park, Gravenhurst.
These unique musical pairings star Jim and Pam Yorfido. Jim is currently receiving rave reviews across Canada for his portrayal of Johnny Cash in “The Sun Records Story,” the official touring show of the famed record label from Memphis, Tennessee.
At the Music on the Barge performance, He will be covering music from the extensive career of Johnny Cash, including early hits such as I Walk the Line and Folsom Prison Blues to other chart-toppers such as Boy Named Sue, Sunday Morning Coming Down and Ring of Fire.
Joining Yorfido will be his real-life wife Pam, who portrays country music legend Tammy Wynette. Best known for her hits Stand by Your Man and the classic D-I-V-O-R-C-E, she also joins “Johnny Cash” to perform some duets including the show-stopping Jackson and It Ain’t Me Babe, among other fun tunes.
In addition to recreating the vocal style of Tammy Wynette, Pam has “gone the extra mile” in the wardrobe department and wears dresses from Wynette’s actual personal wardrobe in the show. She proudly notes: “It’s an honour to keep singing these songs and preserving the Tammy Wynette legend with integrity.”
Vocally, Jim Yorfido’s striking baritone voice is a rarity among Cash performers. He actually has the same vocal range as “The Man in Black” himself!
Musically, his three-piece band captures the Cash sound with “unmatched authenticity,” upright “slap” bass, note for note guitar licks, count for count drum beats, all performed on expensive, vintage instruments and equipment.
In addition to capturing the Cash sound, Yorfido successfully recreates the distinctive look of The Man in Black with meticulous attention paid to every detail of the Cash wardrobe.
Pam Yorfido will, of course, be joining him onstage as June Carter Cash.
Don’t miss the Johnny Cash and Tammy Wynette Tribute this Sunday, July 22 commencing at 7:30 p.m. at Music on the Barge.
The concert will be cancelled and not relocated to another venue in the event of inclement weather, rain or lightning for the safety of the audience and performers. A collection will be taken during the evening.
