I am presently working on a project for a pageant involving the local tradition of Northern Pioneers Algonquin Regiment as it relates to Parry Sound.
The purpose will be to involve the citizenry of Parry Sound and its surrounding area. The venue will be the Algonquin Meåmorial site area and the Stockey Centre. The time will be a Saturday evening in October.
The content would consist of vignettes of formation Northern Pioneers 162 Overseas Battalion First World War Francis Peghamagabow, CPL Nanibush Algonquin Regiment, and, wartime history.
Intermission would be at the Stockey Centre where an English pub scene would take place with musical guests and audience participation in wartime songs and vignettes.
Those involved would be local drama people, music groups, singers, Air Cadets, high school students or local bands.
A target date for the formation would be April 1. Those who are interested in becoming involved contact Jack Patterson at 746-8578 or email email@example.com.
