Another horrific story about animal cruelty and in our own back yards (Four kittens left for dead, February 6, North Star). Four kittens dropped off on the side of the road, in a crate, with no means of escape, on a cold winter day, destined to freeze.
This is certainly not being a responsible pet owner.
It may cost to have a pet spayed or neutered, but, in the long run a much better solution than to have to dispose of a litter of kittens later. The person who did this terrible act obviously owned or borrowed a crate and a car to perform this horrific deed. Why not take them to a safe place? We in Parry Sound sadly do not have a shelter for cats, but, surrounding towns do. Would it not have been more humane to take the kittens to the OSPCA Muskoka Animal Rescue in Bracebridge than to leave them to freeze out in the winter weather? In my eyes there is no excuse acceptable for this action.
Thank you to the person who found them, the OPP, the OSPCA and again to the Georgian Animal Hospital, “People Who Care”. Now, maybe is a good time for the town and townships to put their heads together and come up with a solution to “save our cats.” I also hope whoever did this horrific deed is found and held responsible for their actions. As you probably gather by now, I have a voice, and I will use it to speak for the animals that cannot speak, but, in return, regardless of circumstances, the animals tend to give unconditional love to, sometimes the worst of owners.
