On August 19 I had the privilege to attend the 70th Anniversary Ceremony of the Dieppe Raid. As the son of a Canadian soldier who landed at Blue Beach with the Royal Regiment, I felt very proud to be a Canadian.
I was able to hand out approximately 600 Canadian flag pins to very appreciative French citizens. We also were able to speak to other Canadians who had fathers that were wounded or were POW.
I would like to remind people of the great sacrifices Canadians have given and the proof was visiting Vimy and the Dieppe War Cemetery.
