The former head of the planning department “officially resigned” during the last term of council. Today he is advertising his expertise as a consultant and back working.
He has been replaced and now we have new planning staff in town hall working, of course, independent of any political interference and coming up with an approval recommendation on a rezoning issue brought forward by the former business partner of the mayor.
The mayor has had to step away from this issue due to a conflict of interest. The applicant won’t tell the town what he plans to do with the site if it gets rezoned. The majority of the vouncil said “no rezoning.” And now the council bobbleheads say reverse the decision that was made by council, it’s too expensive to defend.
That’s just another way of saying to hell with right or wrong, choose the least expensive one. My compliments to those councillors who are exhibiting a high standard of morality.
