On June 25 the Active Living Centre, the town’s foot clinic offered its services for the last time.
This precipitous move has left a large number of senior citizens feeing abandoned in town.
This foot clinic, with a small staff and two dedicated women as leaders, has offered this service for many years.
It may be that the Town council and perhaps some paid employees have taken to the notion that services for the public should produce a revenue for the public treasury. Even some people with a conservative bent reject this attitude. It is a policy that should have gone the way of the dodo bird.
As of a few days ago, the clinic was looking for a new site from which to carry on their valuable services. It is not easy to rectify this damage, but any signal of a reversal of policy would be welcomed by many seniors.
They would feel that their town was caring and concerned for their welfare.
