I would like to thank Reeve Peter Hopkins for his time as council representative on the recreation and facilities advisory committee.
I sat on this committee for a term, it was a pleasure working with some one who was so highly skilled in recreation, and was able to guide you effectively through the process.
At all time he was a highly motivated individual who was unfailingly supportive of our endeavors and enthusiastic in his desire to see the McKellar community centre truly be the centre of the community. As a committee, we started the youth room, and walk fit program, brought back the swimming program, worked to improve the signage for the walking trail, one committee member resurrected the baseball program, and we doubled the attendance of the skating program. Erected community event boards around town and worked to ensure they were up to date with flyers, to keep the community informed of what we were offering.
We polled the community to find out what types of things were needed to promote McKellars recreation ideals. Reeve Hopkins worked tireless on our behalf, and supported us well in all ways.
Thanking you again for your endless hours of community involvement. We are now welcoming Tamara Black to the 2012 recreation committee, and looking to move forward.
