To the airport advisory committee,
I am going to be very blunt in this missive because I feel that that is what is needed to get this bunch off their asses and into the real world. Speaking of asses, get yours collectively out of your butts and start working to get that airport into shape. A year ago the district gave away a warplane heritage weekend because they felt that it might take away business, all because they didn’t want to inconvenience any pilots inbound going to their cottages. Pilots before they go some place look at the no tams to see if there are any restrictions on the area they are going to and work around them. So as a consequence of short sightedness muskoka lost what would have been a great tourist weekend . Now this bunch of short sighted née sayers, and not in my backyarders, are about to drive a multimillion dollar business right out of the airport just so they can do a bunch of needless studies. This after all agreeing on a marketing strategy that includes education as a cornerstone of our community. According to what I have heard, the owner of this business plans, in conjunction with a college to use the business as a training site and with the expansion to drastically increase the size of his operation, and manpower. This in an area that is having a hard enough time getting businesses to locate here. Get real committee, we need this business just as we need any other business that the airport can get.
Oro and parry sound have both made it clear that they are open for business and unless you get out of the dark ages and get going, they are going to get contacts that we here in muskoka, should be looking at. Whether you know it or not, buttonville is closing in 2015 and the planes and businesses have to go someplace. That someplace should be here. The time has come to spend some money in order to make some money and the shortsightedness of this bunch in looking at this, and fighting about who is going to benefit from the airport has to stop. Get together, stop acting like a bunch of kids telling each other that they are going to take THEIR ball and go home and start acting like a winning team!
I know that a lot of the local pilots would like to keep this a nice little private club airport but that just can’t happen, we have the chance for a great business opportunity and if you at the district level don’t get the lead out and start acting like business people, we are going to end up on the dirty end of the stick, and that end stinks. Get on with it and for once try to do it right and on time
If you don’t like what I have said, TOO DAMN BAD, because it is time someone said it, and if you want me to I will even come to you and tell you to your faces what a bunch of jerks you are being!!!
