Healthy lake equals healthy fishing industry; reader

I watched a report on Northern Ontario CTV News yesterday (February 26) about concern for the health of Lake Nipissing. One item in the report caught my attention.
Tourism was worth $190 million to the economy of the region, and 85 per cent of that was from Lake Nipissing.
By my math, that is $161.5 million.
I remember the days before we sold our resort, when I, and my fellow resort operators, for at least 25 years, tried to interest local communities in the potential value of Georgian Bay’s sport fishery, without any discernible effect.
A good sport fishery is a by product of a healthy lake.
