‘Civilized human beings do not kill each other’

Huntsville Forester

I am writing in response to the July 20 editorial, Our right to die.
You have correctly stated, “According to Section 7 of the Canadian Charter of Rights : “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice.”
However “the principles of fundamental justice” demands that civilized human beings do not kill each other.  Period.  It’s a line we can’t cross.
Once you give that ‘right’ to one set of individuals, others who are just outside of that boundary will initiate court challenges, one after the other, pushing the envelope ever further and further from “death’s door”.  It’s exactly what’s happened in The Netherlands.
