Lake of Bays woman loses her life in crash

HUNTSVILLE - Police are investigating a fatal crash that took the life of a Lake of Bays woman.
Forty-five year old Veronica Gray-Pitt died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred between Stratheid and Bayview roads along Highway 117.
Huntsville OPP said they received a phone call at approximately 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning from the woman’s family concerned that she had not arrived to her Lake of Bays residence.
They indicated she was travelling back from the Midland area.
Shortly after that phone call, police and emergency services personnel were called to a motor vehicle collision on Muskoka Road 117, east of Baysville, where a truck had crashed into a rock cut.
Officials determined that the lone occupant of the vehicle was Gray-Pitt.
The road was closed for about five hours while officials from the Central Region Technical Traffic Reconstruction began their investigation into the cause of the crash.
The road reopened at approximately 10 a.m.
Investigation into the incident continues.
