The MacTier Legion St. Patrick’s dance was well attended on Saturday night. All had a great time.
Also, the St. James the Great Catholic church ham and scalloped potato supper did very well too. One word I heard was it was delicious.
Coming up on Saturday, March 23, again at the Legion, the MacTier Figure Skating Club fundraising spaghetti supper takes place. This starts at 5 p.m. and goes to 9 p.m.
The cost to adults is $10 per person and $5 for children 12 and under.
MacTier Food Bank days and hours for April 2013 are as follows: Monday, April 1, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; April 9, 16, 23, and 30 are all Tuesdays and from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The food bank is located at the back of MacTier Legion in the basement area.
Just another reminder about the MacTier Public School Parent Council holding a fundraising pancakes and sausages breakfast on April 13 at the MacTier Arena Hall from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The cost of the pancake-sausage breakfast is $5 a plate. A bake sale will occur too. The purpose of this fundraiser is to hopefully purchase 10 more iPads for the school. Plan to attend and help the school.
Here is some Township of Georgian Bay recreation news. The ice at the MacTier Arena is now shut down and being removed for the season. Here is some news for children 6 to 12 years old: it’s MacTier Fantastic Friday on April 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the arena hall.
There is arts and crafts, sports, games, and more.
The next family movie night is Ratatouille on March 29, and it’s Kung Fu Panda on April 19. This is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Continuing the Township of Georgian Bay and District of Muskoka items for the public, the spring half truckloads for 2013 began March 1 and until May 31. District council is the only authority that can lift this restriction earlier.
Also, Mr. Ted Walker will be the township interim chief officer for the next three months. He is a retired CAO from Midland.
Meanwhile Waterhouse Executive Search Firm has been retained to select a permanent CAO. Also, council approved resolutions to allow for the construction of an underpass under the C.P. Rail line on Maple Street in MacTier, based on the completion of a number of conditions (final design, storm water engineering, legal issues, etc, all to the satisfaction of the township).
The project will be completely funded by C.P. Rail ($5-million-plus) and finished by December.
Finally, both Honey Harbour and MacTier Public Libraries have received Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports Accreditation with a 97 per cent rating.
Hopefully we have seen the final snow storm of 2013, and on with spring. Prediction: spring is coming in like a lamb! Have a great week.
