MacTier Royal Canadian Legion Branch 507 will be holding a St. Patrick’s dance at the hall on March 16. To get in wearing green it costs you $5 entry and if you don’t wear green it will be $10 entry.
Dance is from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Support your legion.
Since last months almost daily snow falling, the Township of Georgian Bay Public Works crews are gradually getting streets and snow banks back to normal.
We sure had our share of snow this winter.
Do you realize that this Sunday morning March 10, we switch back to daylight savings time? As the saying goes, “Spring forward and fall back”.
When you change the time one hour ahead, you should also check your smoke alarm batteries and replace any not in good shape.
MacTier Public School Parent Council will be holding a fundraising pancake and sausage breakfast on April 13 at the arena hall from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a bake sale also. Purpose of this fundraiser is to hopefully purchase 10 more iPads for the school. Plan to attend and help the school.
MacTier Figure Skating Club annual end of the season skating carnival was held on Sunday, March 3 at the MacTier Arena. The Skaters did their best and entertained all in attendance. Congratulations. While mentioning the MacTier Arena, the ice plant will be shut down on March 18 for another season.

After the ice is out and the floor cleaned up, it is hoped that two or three floor shuffleboard courts will be installed on the floor. Hopefully this will be available to interested seniors and any taxpayers that may wish to run a league during the spring summer months. I will have more information on the shuffleboard within the next couple of weeks.
Another Canadian Firearms Safety Course and Hunters education will be held on March 22, 23, and 24 in Parry Sound.

Preschool story time takes place during the spring from April 12 to May 17 on Friday mornings from 10:15 to 11 a.m. This is at the MacTier Public Library. There are stories, songs, and activities and it is sponsored by the Township of Georgian Bay Public Library.
Again, MacTier Food Bank dates for March are as follows, March 12, 19, and 26, all Tuesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. The food bank is located in the basement area of MacTier Legion.

The Township of Georgian Bay Recreation March Break Camp begins Monday, March 11 with a number of activities lined up. You can still get in on the daily activities by calling Parks and Recreation, Seanne Goodfellow at 1-800-567-0187.
And the Recreation Department has a movie night lined up at MacTier Arena on March 29, which will screen `Ratatouille`and on April 19 you can see Kung Fu Panda. A parent or guardian must accompany any children attending. Admission is free; all you have to bring is something for MacTier Food Bank.
