Awards and promotions for 295 Air Cadets

Kathryn’s Cove Pottery will be holding a “handbuilding a patchwork bowl” pottery class this Saturday, March 9, at the community centre in Orrville starting at 9:30 a.m. and running until noon. This is for persons aged 15 years and up, and the cost is $25.

This Saturday, March 9, a very special birthday celebration for Barb Coles will be held at Belvedere Heights.
Our mom is going to have 95 candles on her cake and friends and family are invited to join her from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the Fireside Lounge for coffee/tea and cake.

Baked potato bash
The 11th annual Great Baked Potato Bash is coming up on March 23 at the Foley Agricultural Hall, 60 Rankin Lake Road. The doors open at 4:30 p.m. and supper is served at 5 p.m.
Live entertainment will be supplied by Third Change.
The cost is $13 for adults, $6 for children 4 to 12 years of age, and toddlers eat for free. There are only 250 tickets available, so reserve yours early.

Congratulations to brand new grandparents, Lloyd and Holly McNamara, on the birth of their granddaughter Saffron Holly Albiso on February 6. Holly is thrilled to have a little girl in the family.  Tip of the hat to dad, Mike, and mom, May.
295 Air Cadet news
At the recent CO’s parade several awards and promotions were handed out: the best boots award went to Leading Air Cadet (LAC) A. Coles. Promotions - from AC to LAC:  AC R. Ord, AC O. Murray,  AC J. Burton.  Promoted from Lt. to Capt. Lt. Janine Miller, TRG/O.
The squadron sent a marksmanship team to compete in North Bay and they finished in sixth place.
Congratulations to F Sgt. J. Watkinson, Sgt. E. Davidson, FCpl. A. Gill, FCpl. A. Allender and AC O. Murray.  The following were awarded their marksmanship badges – AC. O. Murray (lvl 1) Cpl. B. Allender (lvl 1), FCpl. A. Allender (lvl 2). Previously, Sgt.  E Davidson was awarded his level 4 Distinguished Marksman badge and FSgt. J.Watkinson  was awarded his level 3 Expert Marksman badge. Congratulations to everyone.
Deepest sympathy of the community is extended to family and friends of Lyle Crawford, who passed away last week.
This  Friday, March 8, is the next movie night in Rosseau with the feature movie, Shark Tale, starting at 7 p.m. at the Rosseau Memorial Hall.
The cost is only $5 a ticket, but have your Seguin Library card or your Rosseau Lake North Association membership and you can get in for only $2.50.  Coming up on Friday, March 22, The Hobbit, an Unexpected Journey, and on Friday, April 5, Cirque du Soleil – Worlds Away. Everyone is welcome!
