Get your ducks in a row, for annual ducky race, March 30

Pointe au Baril News

Hello Pointe au Baril. Can you believe the snow we have this year? It was touch and go, but it’s almost been like winters that we used to have. I know it has been a long time since I have written an article, but really, not much is going on in our little town at this time of year. Thank goodness it’s March and spring is just around the corner. I, for one, could not be happier.
I extend our deepest sympathies to long-time resident Jim White on the sudden passing of his wife Lillian. There was a small gathering at the Haven on Friday to celebrate Lillian’s life in Pointe au Baril.
Jim provided us with a photo album of a very young Jim and Lillian. It was nice to see pictures of them in their life before they moved here. Thanks to all that attended.
Joan Penfold is in the hospital at this time. Our best wishes and thoughts are extended to her and her family. It is great to see Greg Andrews out and about after his stay in the hospital and on the road to recovery.
Randy Gardner quietly turned the big 50 last week. Happy birthday Randy.
Pat and Gerry Evoy celebrate their anniversary on March 4.   Coco Brennan is adding another year on March 8. Happy birthday and anniversary to you all.
It was nice to see so many people here for Family Day. The snowmobile trails were filled with families out for a free weekend of snowmobiling.
The annual ducky race is being held Saturday, March 30. Remember to purchase your duck to help support our local snowmobile club. Ducks are only $5 a piece. You can do so at the Pointe au Baril Shell or on the day of the race.
Once again, there will be lots of draws and of course the exciting race of the day. If you can donate your time, call Rob Morel at 366-2231
The Ladies Church Group is looking for help on Wednesdays at the Community Centre. Anyone that would like to help with the quilt or that can help them sort though stuff for the annual spring tea can call Edith Hodgson at 705-366-2960.
The tea will be held on Sunday, April 14. Hope to see you all there. Shane Evoy asked me to say that he misses everyone and is looking forward to being back in Pointe au Baril at the end of March. That is all for now.
Have a great week Pointe au Baril and share your local news with Darlene Evoy, devoypabnews@gmail.com, or 705-774-1726
