Snowmobile accident sends two to hospital

An adult and a teenager were sent to hospital after two snowmobiles collided on a portion of Nichols Road in Bracebridge.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were dispatched to the call at around 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21 on a narrow, groomed curve in the road. OPP Const. Derek Wickett said the force of the collision threw both operators – a 26 year old and a 15 year old – from their vehicles.
“Both were taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries,” he said in a statement.

Police thanked local residents who helped emergency crews extract the injured pair. Wickett said an investigation revealed both operators were wearing proper helmets, though a cause of the crash has yet to be discovered. No charges have been laid at this time.
