The SIU has been called in to investigate a Bracebridge man’s death during a police traffic stop at the McDonald’s restaurant on Highway 118 West.
Police say officers were patrolling the area and spoke to a male driver in a vehicle in the restaurant’s parking lot at around 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17.
“The officer approached the vehicle, and while speaking with the male driver, observed the man was going into medical distress,” said OPP Const. Derek Wickett. “The officer requested immediate assistance from Muskoka EMS. Police assisted EMS by performing CPR on the male.”
The man was taken to the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital a short distance away by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.
The SIU was called in a short time afterwards, and their investigation is ongoing.
