Snowmobiler goes through the ice in Baysville

RESPONDING TO THE CALL:. The OPP's search and rescue team were at the scene of a drowning Monday morning in Baysville.
BAYSVILLE - The body of  48 year-old Edward Dehaan was recovered from the Muskoka River in Baysville, just before 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18.
On Sunday Feb. 17, 2013 just after 11 p.m. Huntsville OPP as well as the Lake of Bays Fire Department and Muskoka EMS received a report that snowmobiles had gone into the Muskoka River on Stratheid Road in the village of Baysville.
OPP members learned that four snow machines had gone to Deerhurst Resort for dinner and had left to head home to their cottage near Dorset. While they were on their way home they had stopped for gas in Baysville. The group, not being from the area, took a wrong turn and ended up heading to an area of open water. All four machines went through the thin ice. Three managed to get out of the water but a fourth, Edward Dehaan of Smithville, Ontario did not make it out of the water.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP at 705-789-5551.
