It was a great weekend for sledding with lots of snow and sleds on the trail. Good for the local businesses and outdoor enthusiasts. Let’s hope the rain Monday doesn’t damage the trails too much for weekend fun. The Dunchurch United Church is holding an Ash Wednesday service tonight, February 13 at 7:30 p.m.
This Sunday, Feb. 17 is the first Sunday in Lent with the service starting at 11 a.m. On Sunday, Feb. 24 there is a potluck luncheon following the church service. The luncheon starts at noon followed by the annual congregational meeting, everyone is welcome to attend. The Easter season begins at the end of March this year and the Dunchurch United Church will have services leading up to Easter Sunday.
Family Day celebrations will commence at the Dunchurch Community Centre this Saturday, Feb. 16 from 2 to 6 p.m. The Whitestone Recreation Committee invites you to come out for some skating, tobogganing, snow games and afternoon entertainment. Enjoy some free hot chocolate, apple cider, coffee and tea. For sale to attendees is chili, hot dogs, pop and water. Everyone is welcome and there will be a vintage snowmobile display, something for the whole family.
The Dunchurch Exercise Club meets tonight at 7 p.m. in the Dunchurch Community Centre. Cost is $3 per person; it’s a great way to get or stay in shape and meet like-minded people trying to be healthier in 2013.
A fitness class with a trainer will be held this Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Dunchurch Community Centre. The price for February is an $8 drop in fee and all levels of fitness are welcome.
