St. Thomas Anglican Church, in Orrville is having a pancake supper, Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. This event will be held at the church on Highway 518, Orrville. Menu includes: scalloped potatoes, ham, salad or coleslaw and pancakes for dessert. Goodwill offering - bring the family and enjoy some community socializing!
The Canadian Junior Dragon Boat Team is hosting a Valentine Tea & Cake Walk this Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Community Centre in Orrville. This event will run from 1 to 3 p.m. There are six local teenagers who tried out for the Canadian Team last summer and made it. Now they are part of 60 athletes from across Canada who will be travelling to Szeged, Hungary in July to compete in the 11th International World Dragon Boat Championships. It’s pretty exciting to say the least. This fundraiser is to help out the athletes with the cost of their travel, uniforms and accommodations. Come out and support a great cause.
The Parry Sound Anglers & Hunters are holding their annual general meeting this Thursday, Feb. 7 at the clubhouse on Brooks Road starting at 7 p.m. All members need to attend this meeting.
The annual Seguin Sled Dog Mail Run happens on Saturday Feb. 16 and starts with a pancake breakfast at the Humphrey Arena followed by the departure of the dogs at 10 a.m.. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. in Rosseau and Dog Sled rides will be available at the field house. Envelopes are available to purchase at all the Seguin Libraries, the offices at the arena and the Seguin Municipal office.
The Humphrey Recreation Committee are hosting Humphrey’s Winter Whirl event on Saturday, Feb.16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Humphrey Nature Trails. We will have snowshoeing, skiing, sliding and winter games where the kids can win prizes. We will be serving hotdogs, roasting marshmallows on the fire and hot chocolate.
Parking will be available at the Humphrey Public School, Municipal Office parking lot and arena. We want to make it clear to folks not to park at the Fire Hall, unless otherwise authorized. The Humphrey Nature Trails are located behind the Fire Hall on Highway 141.
The Seguin Guitar Club continues at the Foley Agricultural Hall, #60 Rankin Lake Rd. on Monday evenings starting at 7 p.m. Check the website at www.foleyagriculturalsociety.ca for all events and happenings!
The Early Years program presents a Pajama Night Story Time at Humphrey Public Library on Monday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. There will be “Chicken Stories” and at 6:30 p.m. a surprise visit! Lots of happy birthday wishes to members of the Klose family this month: Darcy Jordan celebrated 14 years on February 5 and Tim Klose turned 47 on February 5 as well. Elizabeth Klose is 27 on February 6, Donald Klose will have 65 candles on his cake on February 14, Xander Robertson will have four candles on February 23 and Aidan Klose will be 15 years old on February 23.
