Four bites this summer

Four bites this summer. A Massasauga rattlesnake. Sarah Bissonette/North Star
PARRY SOUND -  As the end of summer approaches, four people have been bitten by eastern Massasauga rattlesnakes.
Two bites  occurred in June and the victims were treated at the West Parry Sound Health Centre. The other two bites occurred this month, one in the Parry Sound area (also treated at the health centre) and the other was treated in Midland.
The health centre is the province's anti-venom hub and manages the distribution of vials for treatments among seven other hospitals.
The average rattlesnake bite patient requires 12 vials of anti-venom, the health centre currently has 122 vials in the system.
