PARRY SOUND - It’s the summer’s top business showcase.
This weekend, more than 50 exhibitors, including five area restaurants, will host the BayPalooza Life & Flavour Show with something for everyone. For several years the Parry Sound Area Chamber of Commerce has been approached about doing a home and cottage show, said Chamber chief executive officer Perry Harris. When the Chamber opted for a June show, it had instant buy-in, selling out the majority of vendor spots within less than two weeks.
“We have about 54 exhibitors,” said Harris. “The way we designed it is, we wanted to incorporate our area into the show.”
Exhibitors
On the main floor of the Bobby Orr Community Centre, exhibitors will include businesses offering a wide range of services including renovation, new construction, retail, recreation, interior design, real estate and architectural, as well as adventure.
“Upstairs, we wanted to do a flavour Parry Sound, so five of our local restaurants have bought into it, which is great, and we’re also going to have the associations that want to be exhibitors and finance and investments (exhibitors),” Harris said. “What we’ve come up with by working with them, each of the restaurants are going to have three of their best items and they’ll be served on sample-sized dishes. So for $5 you get to sample three different things from that restaurant. Then we also have the Red Door Bakery and the Country Gourmet.”
The event runs from Friday, June 22, from 4 to 9 p.m. and again Saturday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 and children under 12 are free.
Pancake breakfast
Partnering with the 4-H Club, a pancake breakfast will be held the Saturday morning from 8 to 10 a.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. A complimentary face painter will also be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Come on out and see what our business community has to offer and we have every offering that there possibly is in our area,” said Harris. “We’re looking forward to great participation.”
The event is sponsored by the Parry Sound and Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Georgian Bay Country, The Labour Market Group and the Parry Sound North Star.
