Next Progressions of Life presentation is March 7

Dunchurch News

After all the snow we had last week I hope everyone has dug themselves out!
I don’t know how much you all got, but the wind coming off the lake sure left a lot at our place.
I had to plow and shovel over a foot of snow not including the snowdrifts.
Wow that was lots of work - it may take a few days for my muscles to recover.
The Grade 7/8 class at Whitestone Lake School is heading off for their big trip to Quebec this week to do a little skiing.
Let’s hope they all have a great time, behave themselves, and get back home safe and sound. Bon voyage.
The first annual Family Day Celebration was held on February 18 at the Dunchurch Community Centre and it was a success.
Lots of people came out to enjoy the skating dance, tobogganing, hot dogs, chili, the clogging demonstration and the dance in the evening.
The snow sculpture competition went well and the winner of the first prize went to Ethan for his volcano and second place went to Ashley for her giant turtle.
The Whitestone Recreation Committee would like to thank everyone who came out in support of this event and all the volunteers who spent countless hours to make this event a reality.
The next Progressions of Life Presentation is Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. in the Dunchurch Community Centre.
The topic is menopause presented by Carmen Broughton and everyone is welcome.  The cost is $3 per person and $5 per couple.

I just wanted to say that it would be a very sad thing if Dunchurch lost its local post office for lack of a building.  Isn’t there anyone out there that can accommodate them in the village?
I would welcome the post office at my place (I’d make room for them), but our road is not very good for traffic.
Does anyone have any good ideas or suggestions? That’s all the news for this week.
If you have anything you would like to see in this column please call 705-389-3768 or send it to me at ankirocks@vianet.ca by 6 p.m. Sunday.
