GRAVENHURST - Town staff and the library board are still searching for their new book chief.
The Gravenhurst Public Library has been without a full-time CAO and chief librarian since Rita Orr resigned the post in September of 2012. Caralene Clement continues as the interim chief librarian and town CEO David Weldon is acting as the library’s CAO as well.
The position was advertised earlier in the new year and closed by February, but at this point no personnel decisions have been made. Weldon said the town is still “in the recruitment process” and had received a number of resumés, but no timeline for when a librarian will be in place is known. He wouldn’t divulge if interviews had been conducted.
Orr came to Gravenhurst by way of Collingwood and was hired in May of 2012 to replace former library CAO and chief librarian Robena Kirton, who was with the organization for almost 40 years before retiring.
