Fall ATV ride next weekend

MacTier News

Labour Day weekend has come and gone and it begins to quiet down in our fair town.
It’s back to fall/winter hall activities at the arena. Exercise on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings are from 9 to 10 a.m. On Tuesdays at 10 a.m., it’s the arts and crafts group until 3 p.m. On Wednesday afternoons it’s the Seniors Horizon group from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
More activities will hopefully be arranged.
The MacTier Public School construction is complete and it looks great; the school is in full operation now. The District of Muskoka MacTier Water Tower is coming right along too, as painting is now underway and should be finished soon.
The MacTier and District Lions Club Muskoka Fall ATV Ride and Can-Am Demo day takes place on Saturday, Sept. 15 at The Cove off Highway 69, in MacTier. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and rides are at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Cost per ATV is $25. For more information on this event, contact Terry Johnson at 705-375-2232 or Tracy Fitchett at 705-375-2419.
On the following day starting from the MacTier Legion, it’s the Terry Fox Run for Cancer on September 16. This starts at 9:30 a.m. and you should register before that time.
The MacTier Public Library has a couple of items coming up in September of interest. From September 15 to October 7, there is a Book Sale Blowout each day the library is open. Bring a bag and fill it for $5 with adult books and $2 with children’s books. Also, the MacTier pre-school program takes place at the library for ages 2 to 4 years each Friday from September 21 to October 26 at 10:15 a.m. Stories, songs, and finger plays will be much of the entertainment.
The MacTier Curling Club Men’s Horseshoe League playoffs are now complete for 2012.
Winners of the ‘A’ Division were Elvin Schell, Roy Morgan, and Ernie Morgan.
‘A’ Division team runner-up were Randy Fitchett, Phil Booth, and Nevin Simpson. The ‘’B’ Champions were Randy MacLeod, Jay Dixon, and Truman Watkinson. It was a great season and by the sound of things all will be back for 2013.
The MacTier Legion is holding a mini dart tournament on September 9 starting at 1 p.m. It’s mixed doubles and the cost per team is $25. This includes your darts and a light snack. The first 20 teams will play. Call the Legion to enter at 705-375-2810.
The MacTier Public School parking situation has now changed. Staff and visitors park in the area at the southend of the school and where they used to park at the northend is where the buses now drop off and pick up students. So park at the south area.
I hope everyone has a great and safe week
