John Junck first in bid euchre tournament

McKellar Seniors News

Finally the fire ban for the area has been lifted, but the trees still show the effects of the very dry spell we experienced. Hopefully they will come back next spring.
It even looks like fall with the trees turned and the cooler nights. Summer has really gone by quickly.
There are lots of cards results to report this time.
Bid euchre was played on Sunday, August 12, and the results are: First, Sandra Reid with 287, and tied for second with 284 Don Lockhart and Bob Kant. Bill Brillon, Ralph Wye and Allan Robbins won the share the wealth. Helen Wall won the call "l." Moonshots were made by: Jack Cooke, Ken Burgoyne and Bonnie Marriot.
We also held a bid euchre tournament on Tuesday, August 14, and the winners were: first, John Junck with 394; second Glenn Fretz, 389; and third, Judy McKinnon, 359. Barb Frazer, Charlie McAlister, Hugh Green, Bernice Irvine and Bernie Hodgson won the share the wealth. Bernie won the door prize, which was a lovely basket. Joan Penfold won the call "l" after lucky Bernie's name was drawn and he declined another basket. Moonshots were made by Rhoda Bailey, Klaus Reinhardt, Alec Darroch, Hugh Green, Terry Wiseman, Chris Chapman, Eleanor Land, Bernice Irvine, Olive Patterson and Bob Beirness. It happened to be Robert Walker and Eleanor Land's birthday that day. Note that Eleanor got a moonshot on her birthday. Thanks to all who helped make this a success.
There is a one-day trip to Niagara Falls on August 27. The trip to Rama is Thursday, September 6. Another one is scheduled for Monday, September 27. There are five seats left for the Shop Till You Drop trip to Erie, Pennsylvania, on November 16, 17 and 18. Contact Mary Ann Beck for trip information at 705-389-2899 or 705-389-2512.
George Beck is doing well now at home with his new hip. Robert Francis is in the hospital. Get well wishes to both these "gentlemen."
