United Church hosts jam session, August 22

MacTier News

The Parry Sound and Area Municipal Airport Annual Fly-in takes place on Saturday, Sept. 8. It goes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lots of planes coming and going, various booths, food, and don’t forget to take in the music of the 80-piece Northern Lights Steel Band. You can also check out the classic cars that will be displayed too. Great show.
We have seen rain, thank goodness, and supposedly more in the coming days. The areas fire bans are now off and you are allowed evening burning by permit. No day burning.
Where has our summer gone, it’s only less than three weeks and school starts up again, or will there be strikes occurring with various school staffing. Let’s hope everything works out okay.
The MacTier Public Library Preschool and older children’s programs have wrapped up for the summer. Both have had great attendance. The Township of Georgian Bay day camps are still in operation until the end of August.
The MacTier United Church group is holding another evening of jam sessions and a cup of coffee on Wednesday, Aug. 22. This is from 7 to 9 p.m.
Come on out and take in the music and fun, bring your instrument or voice. Admission is $3 for adults and for families its $5.
Just a reminder on Sunday, Aug. 26, starting at 10:30 a.m, it’s a Community Church Service and Lunch at Stewart Lake Beach. Bring your lawn chairs. Everyone is welcome - come for the service and stay for fellowship. If staying for lunch, please bring salad or sandwiches or dessert to share. This is hosted by New Life Fellowship Church.
Also get in shape, the annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer starts at MacTier Legion and is on September 16. Register and start time is 9.30 a.m. Let’s hope it is a nice day.
MacTier Arena Hall fall programs begin the first week of September. Watch for days, times in next week’s edition of this column.
MacTier Men’s Horseshoe League play had to be cancelled last Thursday due to the much needed rain we received, play resumes this coming Thursday hopefully if no more rain!
