Coming up on August 3, 4, and 5 it’s the MacTier Development Committee’s annual Big Weekend in MacTier.
It starts Friday evening and ends Sunday evening with lots of activities for everyone. Plan on coming out and take in the weekend.
Bears are a big problem in various areas and also MacTier. Please should you have garbage to dispose of, put it in local bins about town. Do not leave garbage beside bins as they attract bears. By the way, bins open easy, just turn top handle and raise the lid.
There are lots of people this summer out walking or jogging every day along the roadside in our area.
Please be careful if are a person driving with them on the road. While mentioning walking or jogging, the annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer comes up on Sunday, Sept. 16.
More details are to come in my next column for the MacTier run.
Nice to see a good size thunderstorm in our area on Tuesday morning, July 31. We sure needed rain and require much more soon.
Some lakes in the area are down to desperate levels.
Some docks are sitting on bottom.
There had better be lots of rain this fall or lots of snow this winter.
By the way, the fire ban is still in effect for the Township of Georgian Bay and I believe Muskoka.
Mactier Public School construction of additions to school is coming right along with a little more than four weeks to go before school. And the painting and upgrading of the MacTier Water Tower by the District of Muskoka is going well, too.
The warm sunny weather is helping things along. Local contractors working on the lakes are quite busy as well.
It’s been a slow week for news, everyone is gearing up for the big weekend, lets hope the weather cooperates for it.
To all have a safe and fun holiday weekend.
