BALA - Bala Falls is on the discussion plate along with a list of other topics for the Muskoka Lakes mayor when she meets with provincial ministers in August.
Delegates of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario will meet at their annual conference with provincial ministers and delegates to discuss important matters in their communities.
Mayor Alice Murphy has requested to meet with eight different ministries at the conference including Aboriginal Affairs, Natural Resources, Tourism and Culture, Energy, and Environment on the topics of the First Nation marker tree, provincial parkland and protection of portage routes, Muskoka heritage, renewable energy policy, and Bala Falls respectively.
Murphy also hopes to talk to the Ministry of Northern Development about rail service to Muskoka and Northern status for Muskoka, Health and Long Term Care about the nursing station for Port Carling, and Municipal Affairs and Housing about One Muskoka and affordable housing.
