The District of Muskoka has issued a total ban on fires for the area as of July 17. Please follow the ban as we don’t need any forest fires in any areas.
Water tower
While mentioning the District of Muskoka, the MacTier Water Tower is now being worked on, sand blasting and painting. This is a long drawn out job and very dangerous as workers are up in the air a few hundred feet or so.
It’s been one hot, humid summer to date and could be with us for a while.
Good job we live near a lake and have water available. Personally, I prefer the winter to this, at least you can breathe okay.
Roast beef dinner
The MacTier Legion is having a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings on August 4 from 4:30 to 6.30 p.m.
This is part of the MacTier Big Weekend Festival. Cost per adult is $12 and it’s $8 per child. Support your local legion.
Big Weekend Festival
As mentioned above, the MacTier Big Weekend Festival is drawing ever closer and arrives on August 3, 4, and 5 with lots of activities for young and old. Plan to attend and take in the fun.
Just a reminder of the MacTier United Church coffee house and jam session at the church on Wednesday, July 25 from 7 to 9 p.m.
If you like to play, sing, or just listen, come and join the fun.
Admission is $3 for adults and $5 for families.
Everyone is welcome.

Georgian Bay Township
Here are some more Township of Georgian Bay tidbits.
To date 227 septic systems have been inspected with 269 due for inspection this year: 37 systems in Honey Harbour and two around Stewart Lake need repairs.
Also, the Township of Georgian Bay will apply for an infrastructure grant to repair the MacTier Arena roof and to potentially install solar panels.
Panels may also be added to other township-owned facilities.
The Township of Georgian Bay will retain a solicitor and species at risk biologist to draft amendments to the endangered species act to establish reasonable protocols for development within Port Severn and MacTier. And finally Township of Georgian Bay staff are still working to arrange a meeting with Ministry of Natural Resources to discuss the issue of camping on Go Home Lake.
Both the Township of Georgian Bay’s Day Camp and the MacTier Library Children’s Summer programs are being well attended to date.
To all have a great week, and stay cool.
