McKellar Sunshine Seniors Club
The McKellar Sunshine Seniors Club has cancelled the Wednesday night bid euchre meetings.
The Thursday euchre winners were Jack Smith, Anders Wallenius and Bruce Samis. Elizabeth Campbell won for most lone hands. The carpet bowling winners were Mary Feist, Vivian Smith and Audrey Jones.
Horticultural
The Parry Sound and District Horticultural Society will host the annual houseplant show “Showtime” on Wednesday, April 25. Instead of a speaker, there will be a floral design workshop. The cost is $10 and all materials will be supplied. If you want to make a design, please bring a knife or scissors to cut the flowers. If you prefer, you can just watch. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge for the meeting. Enjoy the houseplants and take home a floral design.
NINCOMPOOP
The Horticultural Society is selling bags of “NINCOMPOOP”. This is weed-resistant organic mulch that reduces the need for watering and fertilizer.
It composts into a nutrient rich black earth which is loved by worms but hated by slugs and snails.
It was used at Canada Blooms and is being used at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington. The cost is $9 for two cubic feet./56 litre bags. Call Maureen at 705-389-3773 to order or for further information.
If you have news to report in McKellar please contact us at 705-389-1786 or by email at last@vianet.ca. We would appreciate hearing from you by Sunday noon.
