Sturgeon Bay algae advisory lifted

POINTE AU BARIL - The blue-green algae advisory reported at the end of September for Sturgeon Bay, in the Township of the  Archipelago, has been lifted.
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit announced Tuesday, that testing by the Ministry of Environment (MOE) has verified the toxins aren't persisting in the specified waters. Residents in that area are now able to use the water in Sturgeon Bay for private water systems, pets and livestock.
"Residents are encouraged to promptly report future blue-green algae blooms to the North Bay area office of the Ministry of Environment at 1-800-609-5553 or the MOE Spills Action Centre at 1-800-268-6060," Robert A-Muhong, environmental health program manager with the health unit said in a recent press release.
"MOE will send staff to take water samples to confirm the presence and severity of the blue-green algae bloom."
