HUNTSVILLE - The Port Sydney/Utterson and Area Chamber of Commerce is getting a new home.
The chamber is moving its office from its home of six years at 668 Muskoka Rd. 10 to a new home at 5 South Mary Lake Rd., Unit 4, next to Dean’s Home Hardware.
Chamber president Gord Haig said the move, which is expected to be completed by the end of this week, will help facilitate the group’s mandate.
“Our purpose is to promote our members in any way we possibly can. This will be a move forward to give the chamber a lot of exposure along the highway. That is a very busy plaza down there. I think it is an excellent move for us.”
The chamber’s move comes at a good time as the owner of the building the group had called home for the past six years was looking to put another business of their own into that space, according to Haig.
“We saw the opportunity to move into a place along the highway and thought it would be a good move for everyone involved,” he said.
Haig said the intention is for the move to cause little disruption of the chamber’s services to its membership.
“We hope it’s going to be up and running on Friday. That’s our intention,” he said.
The chamber is planning a grand opening on Wednesday, May 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6:30 p.m. by Huntsville Mayor Claude Doughty.
