Films that make you think: Force of Nature on March 8

The latest movie in the second season of the Films That Make You Think film club is set to launch Tuesday, March 8, at the West Parry Sound Museum at 7 p.m.
The most recent offering will be the biographical documentary, Force of Nature.
“We are really excited to have the opportunity to show Force of Nature now since it is actually still in the theaters and hasn’t been released on video yet,” said Glen Hodgson, the film club’s founder.
Great reviews
“The film received great reviews but had a limited release so to have the opportunity to show it in a small market like ours is very unique.”
The film is a final summation of the life and times of David Suzuki, iconic Canadian scientist, educator, broadcaster and activist as he delivers a last lecture—what he describes as “a distillation of my life and thoughts, my legacy, what I want to say before I die.”
Filmed before a live audience, in front of a memory box of moving, distilled images, he articulates a core, urgent message: we have exhausted the limits of the biosphere and it is imperative that we re-think our relationship with the natural world.
Peoples Choice Award winner
Force of Nature was the people’s choice award winner for best documentary at the 2010 Toronto film festival and has won widespread acclaim from critics around the world.
“Suzuki is so well known and has such a legacy of involvement that he has become a household name.
“This film attempts to encapsulate his incredible life’s work while passing on wisdom and advice for future generations,” said Hodgson.
“Given the topic of the film and the exclusivity of the showing, we expect to have a full house for this one and suggest that people come early to reserve a seat.”
Inspire though
This film series is non-partisan and designed, as the title suggests, to inspire people to think about some key issues facing our communities, our country and our world.
