Lion’s host kids day camp

Pointe au Baril News

Spring is here!  Well, that’s what one would think after the great weekend we had. You all know that spring brings the ducky races to Pointe au Baril.
Yes, it’s time for the annual Ducky Race on Saturday, April 3. The race starts at noon at the Government docks, but come early. There will be bake sales and draw tables also.
Ducks are only $5 and can be purchased at the Pointe au Baril Shell Station, St. Amant’s in Britt or the Parry Sound Snowmobile District office in Parry Sound.  The first duck across the finish line will be worth $1,000, second is $300 and third $100.
Also the first 10 Children’s (12 and under) duck will win a prize. All proceeds from this event go to better trails.  Buy your duck early and buy often.
Lottery dreams do come true.  Well not for me, but for one of our local ladies. It was so nice to hear somebody you know win $25,000.  Congratulations Edith we all were so happy for you.
The Pointe au Baril Lions Club is sponsoring a day camp for children ages six to 16 on Tuesday, March 16 at the community centre.  There will be sports, games and fun, but you must register to attend.  Call me after 5 p.m. at 366-2866 to register by March 12.  The fun is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and lunch is provided.
Happy 60th wedding anniversary wishes go out to Gerry and Pat Evoy.  Wow, 60 years together, somebody deserves a medal if you ask me.
Congratulations to Rachael Rhodenizer on her recent marriage to Mitchell Inch on February 20 in Gravenhurst.  Rachael is the daughter of Wayne Rhodenizer and Cindy (Emery) of Kitchener.  Mr. and Mrs. Inch will be residing in Gravenhurst.  Grandma Joan said it was a lovely winter wedding with a winter theme reception.
Happy birthday wishes this week go out to Brian Thorkildsen, Miriam McAllaister Rhodenizer, and my hubby Perry.
Remember to call me at 366-2866 or email me at ruthannmuma@hotmail.com for all the latest news, birthday or anniversary wishes you would love to share.
With all this mild weather our roads are in terrible shape.  Drive with caution.  Have a great week and happy March break to all our students.  Smile parents, it’s only for a week!
